PAS supports undergraduate research and scholarship:
- By promoting interdisciplinary courses with Africa content, language training, study abroad programs, and opportunities for research.
- By bringing students together with faculty and visiting scholars in a variety of different academic and cultural settings such as informal and formal lectures, conferences, workshops, research programs, and film screenings.
Students in all fields are welcome to participate in the activities of the program. PAS offers an adjunct Major and Minor in African Studies to allow students to unite their passion for African-related issues with a rigorous academic program developed to complement their other program(s) of study. Will Reno (Director, Program of African Studies) is the academic advisor for African Studies undergraduates.
